Step 1 Complete Fiction Book Report Worksheet
Step 2 Research Genres

Identify what Genre your book is. Give three reasons why you think your book is the specific genre you have chosen.
Step 3 Read Three Reviews at Teensread.com
Follow the link to the great teen reading source, Teensread.com. http://www.teenreads.com/index.asp
Click on the reviews tab at the top. Choose three book reviews to read. Complete the review questionnaire handout. If you finish early explore the site and find books that interest and intrigue you. The students with the best project will be able to choose a book on Teenreads.com as their very own prize!!!
Step 4 Write Review
Answer the questions on the worksheet to help you outline your review. After you are finished, begin creating a final draft of your written review. Pay attention to grammar, spelling, organization, content, and style. The review must be written in 12-14 point font and must be at least three paragraphs and fifteen sentences long. The review will be graded on the PSSA writing rubric.
Step 5 Creative Project Plan
Create a detailed plan explaining what you will do for your final project. The teacher must approve your project before you begin. Describe what you will do, the materials needed, the timeline you will follow, and your reason for choosing this project.
Step 6 Book Fact Sheet
Answer 20 questions about your book, its genre, characters, plot, and setting.
Step 7 Final Creative Project
The final creative project may be in any of the following forms:
•Do a collage/poster showing pictures or 3-d items that related to the book, and then write a sentence or two beside each one to show its significance. Diorama of an important scene
•Create a drawing or painting with 200 word written explanation
•Interview a character from your book. Write and answer 10 questions.
•Create a short play of an important scene
•Create a travel brochure for the story’s setting
•Be a TV or radio reporter, and give a report of a scene from the book as if it is happening "live".
•Draw a series of comic strips
•Use magazine photos to make a collage about the story
•Make a newspaper about the book, with all a newspaper's parts--comics, ads, weather, letter to the editor, etc.
•Write and record a song about the story
Step 8 Project Presentation
Public presentation is an essential skill. Completing this project will require you to chare your reading experience with your peers. Each student will give a 3-4 minute presentation of their final project and their book review with the class. For the shy and timid, individual presentations to the teacher will earn half credit. I encourage you all to gain the essential skills of leadership and communication.

Objective:
Now that we have reached our class goal of reading 100 Books, each of you will choose ONE book for your Reading Project. Each week you will be required to complete a certain number of steps in order to earn full credit on your project. The completed project will be displayed in the classroom.

The Final Project will be worth a total of 250 points. Each assignment will have a specific rubric.
